Road resurfacing under way in Bellville

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate commenced with roadworks along Frans Conradie Drive, between Lincoln Street and Durban Road in Boston, as well as with road rehabilitation on Old Paarl Road between Bill Bezuidenhout Avenue and De La Haye Road in De La Haye, Bellville. The work will take place at night, from 19:00 to 05:30, Monday to Friday, and is scheduled to continue until Monday, 2 March 2026, weather permitting and if all goes as planned.

‘To minimise disruption to daily routines, we have scheduled this work to take place at night. All lanes are expected to reopen to traffic by 06:00 on weekdays. I would like to thank residents and road users for their patience throughout the construction period. Some of the road infrastructure in parts of Bellville is ageing, and these repairs are essential to ensure we can keep Cape Town moving on safe, high quality roads,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

The resurfacing work entails:

• Milling and removal of existing asphalt surface and replacing it with hot-mix asphalt.
• The removal of damaged kerbs and installing new kerbs.
• The reinstatement of all road markings removed during the process.

The City advises road users to be cautious while work is under way, to lower their speed, pay attention to road signs, be vigilant in and around the roadworks area, look out for uneven road surfaces, be mindful of the construction workers and factor in longer travel time if planning to travel along these affected roads at night.
